The first task of this brief was to select a product that had at least three variations. Thereafter, we needed to create a series of well-set-up and considered images, consisting of three individual shots of each variant, and then two group shots of the products together. Once the images were taken, they were taken through the post-production process, where they were edited and perfected in Photoshop. Once the images were complete, it was time to create a product video, in the format of an Instagram reel, that would effectively communicate one or more of the brands’ products.
The concept of the shots was 'Aromatic Coffee balanced with a sweet breakfast'. The colours would be more pastel, and the compositions would follow a monochromatic colour scheme that is contrasted with browns, either from the coffee beans themselves or from a breakfast-type element.
In monochrome photography, tones of a single colour are used to represent all the different colours within an image. This stands in stark contrast to contemporary colour photography in which the actual colours present in the subject are captured and represented in the photograph.
This brief was exciting and stimulating. The concept was to create a pastel sweet breakfast that would pair well with Tribeca's coffee and entice the  viewer. From the planning to the shooting, to the post-production, the brief proved to be a journey of composition development and execution. The final designs are brightly coloured and intriguing, playing on the viewers’ love for coffee and sweet snacks. Learning about product photography and the art of composition was a major part of this brief. Product Photography is no longer simply just taking photos of products, but rather a process of planning, mapping and trial and error to capture the perfect shots. It is a great skill to have and upon completion of this assignment, it is seen as skill to appreciate too.
